CBRN Training and Defence
The world today may be faced with CBRN and Bio terrorism for the next 50 years according to George Bush and Tony Blair. It may make some sense therefore to make some defensive plans against the threat of CBRN agents. CBRN is an acronym for chemical biological radiological nuclear agents and although they may appear to the untrained to be catastrophic events, the reality is that CBRN agents should in the most part be compared to the threat of harmful dust, or irritants. The result of CBRN exposure and its complex response require training to accomplish reasonable defence but that defence is available. Unfortunately many CBRN training programs are provided by ex military personnel and revolve around the training given to front line troops who are expendable. Civilian training for the CBRN event must accommodate laws and the general principle that military and tactical orders given by senior officers with a duty to perform will be replaced common sense and trust of the civilian CEO. Training and refuge coupled to personal protection are key areas in the defence of the CBRN event.
