Trauma Scene and Decomposition
Trauma or death scenes are those where human tissue or body fluids have been released in an uncontrolled manner. Trauma scene is invariably linked with "Blood" trauma scene but body fluids generally must be considered as potential pathogens, a substance which can affect human health. Universal procedures should be employed in the decontamination of a blood trauma scene and this means that any body fluid at the trauma scene should be presumed to be a pathogen and suitable training and equipment must be worn. Death scene or suicides are often the site of decomposition and although the stages of decomposition are well understood they can be particularly disturbing to the untrained.
